Effects of Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Knowledge, and Safety Culture on Employee Retention: Role of Motivation Job Security

Abstract

In modern work environment, employee retention is crucial for organizations as it strengthens competitive advantage, reduces costs, and sustains operational costs for market survivals. Therefore, purpose of this research is to examine effect of occupational safety and health, safety knowledge, and safety culture on employee retention through mediation of employee motivation. Moderating role of job security was also explored. Study adopted quantitative research methodology. Population comprised employees working in organization. Questionnaire was developed from literature review to collect data from 350 employees using convenience sampling. Usable response rate was 60.28% and data was analyzed using Smart PLS 4 and SPSS 26.  Results revealed that occupational safety and health, safety knowledge, and safety culture have positive significant effect on employee motivation. Moreover, employee motivation impacts employee retention significantly. Statistical figures supported the mediating role of employee motivation and moderating effect of job security. Present research integrates occupational safety and health, safety knowledge, safety culture, employee motivation, employee job security, and employee retention in a single framework.
