This research examines the regulatory framework governing translation agreements under Jordanian Copyright Law and associated rights legislation, with particular attention to their legal classification, applicable statutory provisions, substantive terms, constituent elements, and the mutual rights and obligations of the contracting parties. It further considers the legal effects arising from such contracts, the mechanisms through which the contractual relationship may be brought to an end, and the necessity for these agreements to be both time-limited and formally documented in writing between the parties involved. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted to evaluate relevant legal texts and doctrinal sources. The findings indicate that the Jordanian legislature has not developed specific provisions tailored to translation contracts, nor established a dedicated legal framework reflecting the distinctive nature of this type of agreement and the balance of rights and duties it entails. Instead, such contracts are left to be governed by broad, general legal rules, which are insufficient to address their particular characteristics as a relatively modern contractual form. The study concludes that there is a clear legislative gap in the regulation of translation contracts. Accordingly, it recommends the introduction of specialised legal provisions that explicitly define the essential components of translation agreements, regulate their duration and scope, and mandate their formulation in written form to ensure legal certainty and protect the interests of both parties.
